John Schlee hung out at Colonial for days, waiting for Mr. Hogan to help him. Finally, Mr. Hogan summoned Schlee to his practice area. The first thing Mr. Hogan said to Schlee was "John, what are your goals in golf?" To which Schlee replied, "I want to win 5 US Opens!" Mr. Hogan never batted an eye, and replied, "Well then, we better get started." Schlee came close to winning one; the Open Johnny Miller won at Oakmont. BTW, has anyone here ever tried gripping the club the way Schlee recommends in his book (supposedly Mr. Hogan showed him this grip as an anti-hook remedy)?

Instead of the club being held diagonally in the left hand, it is held so that the grip lies straight along the "callous line" of the palm, just inside the finger joints.
Brian, what was (is) your take on holding the club in such a manner? I don't know about you, but there is no way I can hook the ball holding the club in this manner, unless I really hood it.
