Hip Movement
When hitting, should the hips be square at impact or open? If open, is hip thrust conscious, or is it in reaction to what's going on with the upper body? I ask this because my image of hitting is one of being very upper-body dominant with the lower body relatively still.
Also, in a related matter, since I've been working on a hitting motion, my left hip has gotten increasingly sore. I think this is because I'm "hitting into my left side" instead of clearing it, as I did when I was doing more of a swinging motion. Is there anything I might be doing wrong here?
TIA,
Jazzy

Let your lower body respond with the action of your right arm....the lower body does not remain still....see the top paragraph per 2-K for hitting...

Jazzy,
The hips have to be slightly open. As in impact fix, the hands are covering the left big toe and the hips are slightly open. The hands are suppose to be mid-body.
Impact fix is there to simulate your impact alignments. The computer is listening when you do those things, as it gives a feel to the location to which it will return.

Yodasluke,
Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify, are you recommending that I begin the swing in impact fix with my hips already slightly open?

Yes...to begin the "hit."

Doesn't open hips hinder clearing of the right hip in the backswing?

This also related to another question I raised in other thread but haven't received comments yet:
"I believe Yoda mentioned before that closed-closed is recommended for hitter at advance level. Could you tell us why you are using a square open stance. I know it related to the person but is there any guides why someone will use square square, square open etc.. Any advantages on square open?"
Another confusion is: At impact fix, as you mentioned, hands covered left toe which I understand, hands forward and shaft leading, but how can it be middle hands position then? which will have the hands at the back of the clubhead for long irons?

Dear Yodasluke,
I'm confused about the hands being over the left big toe and midbody at the same time. Am I missing something?

Good question. Here is my take on this... but I'm sure Yodasluke will respond.
Look at the pictures in Chapter 10-8. Now go to chapter 7-8...third paragraph. The hands will... "change their relationship with the Ball but they will still be in mid-body location." "Move back and forth between Address and Fix until you see that."
This will be easier to see if you start at Standard Address, and go back and forth between Fix and Address.
