I just can't create any lag- can someone please help me? I am about ready to quit.
Learn by hitting hard chips and punch shots. Try to hit it low but don't play it way back in your stance. Swing with your eyes closed a bunch even hit balls if you can. Get a net and hit into it so you don't get "mez-MO-Rized" by distance and direction. Do the Hogan dealie where you take your right fanger tip and thumb off of the grip and just have the "fleshy pad" there and swing and hit balls. Get some dowels and an impact bag. Get a video camera and video hitting into the net. Easiest way to make swing changes.
Don't EVER quit. Be easy on yourself. It's a tough game and there ain't no secret. You can't beat golf but you can't let it beat you either. Look in the mirror and see your best friend not some dude you think is a no talent dumbazz (unless of course Mike O is standing behind you . . . and if he is . . . DUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!). And go see your local AI ASAP.
The road to the land of milk and honey is paved with Alignments.
The tricep or pivot causes the clubhead to change (direction and/or acceleration). You sense this change (labeled as Pressure) in PP #3.
That's why the mandate to KEEP making sure the hands are being driven (by pivot or tricep), so you can continue to sense clubhead change, and then you can direct the thrust according to your chosen plane line.
Not sustaining club head lag is not being able to sense the clubhead. So do what is necessary not to throw the club head away. Make sure the hands are being driven, shorten the stroke, clear the right hip, etc.
Jerry here is one of my all-time favorites from Yoda:
Your Left Wrist is Bending during Release and Impact because your Right Wrist is Flattening. And your Right Wrist is Flattening because during (or after) the Release of the Left Wristcock, you are incorrectly attempting to continue that Wrist Uncocking Feel instead of correctly Rolling the Hands.
After the Left Wrist has moved from Cocked to Level -- it is never Fully Uncocked (the Full Extension of the Primary Lever Assembly that results in Zero #3 Accumulator) until after Impact -- the Overtaking (of the Hands by the Clubhead) is accomplished by the Roll of the #3 Accumulator to the end of the Follow-Through. If this correct action is replaced by 'False Feel' Wrist Action -- misapplied #3 Pressure Point Pressure causing a Horizontal Motion in the Right Wrist -- the inevitable result is a Bent Left Wrist and Throwaway.
So, to cure your Bent Left Wrist, you must learn to complete the Release -- Sequenced or Simultaneus (2-P) -- by the proper Left Wrist Action into Impact and Left Hand Hinge Motion into the Follow-Through. But learning these Mechanics is not enough. For total victory, you must overcome the First Snare -- the urge to Steer (3-F-7-A) -- and this requires learning to drive the Ball into the ground and not into the air or 'toward the Target' (6-E-2).
"you are incorrectly attempting to continue that Wrist Uncocking Feel instead of correctly Rolling the Hands".
this is the problem I am having- (you hit the nail on the head)...for the longest time I thought the left wrist was suppose to uncock until it bends backwards. After I found this site I realize I was wrong but I can not break the habit or the left wrist bending backwards.
You have come to the right place. Lots of us are walking right down that road with you. Impact alignments are quite challenging, and the level of precision with which they are addressed by Yoda, Ted, and some of the veterans here is second to none. Keep at it.
