Both methods are valid . . .

Could be you are a Geometric Plane Line Hitter and not an Angle of Approach Hitter.

Remember EVERYTHING including Aiming Point is based on the selected Delivery Line. So if you choose the Angle of Approach (cross line) your Hip Motion (Bump) is out to right field too . . . as well as your Hinging and Swivel. You don't want to be going Cross Line and then change back to the Target Line/Geometric Plane Line with an Angle of Approach procedure. The Clubface will take care of the ball flight you just keep going OUT TO RIGHT FIELD.

Or you could just use the Geometric Plane Line . . .

But like you say if you take your hands back to their Fix conditions FLV and have a Straight Plane Line you got most of it licked. No need to worry about Aiming Point.
