1930 Golfing Machine

How do you feel this "machine" concept?

Could that be Dr. Orr...David's Dad operating the machine??? :)

Very nice find.
I like the stationary post.

That bad boy must be in a garage somewhere. Its just too good for someone to throw away. I would love to know the history on that one.

I have never seen this video, nor have I been aware of such a machine. Very interesting!

Like Bagger, I would love to know more, especially about the operator. It does seem as if I have seen this fellow before. Checking my old books now...

It may be Seymour Dun, the legendary golf instructor who operated his Seymour Dun Golf School in Lake Placid, N.Y., and whose book Golf Fundamentals (1922) remains to this day a true classic of the game.

WoW! My 100th post was something that even Maste Yoda did not see before. It was said the machine was located in a San Francisco golf school, year 1930, to teach Bobby Jones golf swing.

Have to dig deep.

I have extended video of this somewhere in my video collection. Although I haven't watched it in quite a few years, If memory serves this video was taken arround the time of WWII, not sure about 1930. I'll get back when I have more info.

To help Bobby Jones swing in 1930? Don't think he needed much help :) . KOC do you have any further information?

Cool post

Neat video. I would love to see more if anyone has more.
Judging from the attire of the ladies, it looks like the Roaring 20's to me. Yoda may be able to help us out here........:laughing9

UPP in chilly but playable Ohio

It's been four years Drew :confused1 , how big is your video collection? Just give us an estimate - say 2018?

Mike,

Thanks for reminding me. I believe the video that I have of this came from "The Complete History of Golf" that was produced by the PGA of America in 1992 and narrated by Pat Summerall. I will have to go through the four volume set to find the exact date. I will get back to you. Hopefully, in less than four years.
