Thanks for your sharp eye! :salut: |
Not so sharp, Lynn. They were plastered all over the PGA Tour home page. :-)

I like this drawing. The 1,2,3 sounds familiar too.

I don't want to be rude - but why isn't Brian Gay (and Jay Williamson) playing better than he is this year? Is he injured? He hasn't forgotten all that made him great last year (or was it the year before?)?

I think its related to length and the distance these courses are going. Statistically speaking he should be having a good year, he is very high in fairways, proximity to hole, putting both in average and total putting. I just think he is getting hurt on the par 5's and has to many long irons into greens. He is 3 yards on average shorter than the next shortest player on tour, thats a lot to overcome. |

OmiGod . . . What's Wrong??!!

Other than that, BG's scoring average and earnings have really sucked these past five years: 2010 70.70 $1,388,579 2009 70.34 $3,201,295 2008 70.11 $2,205,513 2007 70.89 $1,114,571 2006 70.32 $1,037,600 Guess he'll have to 're-build' his swing. :( |

Brian Gay $8,947,558 Matt Bettencourt $2,057,647 Perhaps another way to measure? :) |
Next year should be interesting.

Armchair Vs. Arena

"Why isn't Brian playing better?" "Is he hurt?" "Has he forgotten what he learned?" Quite frankly, having lived and worked the adventure these past five years, that critique and characterization rubbed me the wrong way. I posted the facts of his remarkably consistent Scoring Average and very respectable Official Money as evidence that perhaps things are not so bad after all. :salut: |

Serve and Return

That statement suggests an indifference on the part of the player (and his coach). No competitor worth his salt is satisfied with the status quo, no matter how high his rank among his peers. Brian did not win this year -- at least not yet -- and I can assure you he is far from "happy" about that situation. But, to suggest as you did that a scoring average of 70.70 and Official Money of almost $1.4 million is playing poorly and that such a performance can only be explained by being hurt or forgetful is a slap in the face. No need to apologize. These are free forums, and you are entitled to your opinion. But, don't be surprised when a response bears the same edge as the question. :salut: |

And now . . . Let's tee up another ball and leave this hole behind. :golf: |
My scoring average is slightly higher than 70.70 !

I saw BG on the range the last day at Aronimink, and talk about "frozen ropes!" My wife is very nice to me and smiled when she said "Honey, you almost hit them like that!" I thought I saw BG smile, but the next five shots were considerably longer and somehow, straighter. "Honey, I can spell TGM but Mr. Gay does TGM, seriously!" :golfcart: YBGF |
