Yoda's Tape or DVD depending how old you are
Having been away from the site I visted to congratulate Lynn on Brian Gay's win.
I had never noticed before that there was a DVD avail for purchase, so I got one. For all those who have never had the pleasure of Yoda's wit or instruction in person this DVD is a perfect opportunity to experience it. Vintage Lynn. I kept hearing about a Long game DVD that would be coming in the future but Lynn, in the way only he can deliver it , gave you all the info you needed right there. Basic, Acquired, Top etc. Obviously when you are talking about Top and End you have moved outside of the short game. I still have to watch the Drills tape but I think I know where it will go. The internet is a fantastic place and this board is one of the best but Lynn would have to write thousands of posts(and he has tried) to get across what he shows you in just a few minutes on the tape. Although he does try to use as many words as possible while he is showing :laughing9 If you appreciate what Lynn and the crew bring to you here you owe it to them and to your golf game to get this tape:D :D I know I did. :salut: Tommy |
have it and can only agree.
You will love the drills disc, not to mention the putting one, although someone should have stopped VJ continually shouting "I love that!" :laughing9 |

I remember well your ardent participation at our 2005 LBG Academy / The Links at Shirley on Long Island http://www.linksatshirley.com/. Especially, I remember your superior play in our late afternoon playing segment. That's the one where Ted Fort was taking 'beaver pelt' divots out of the lush bluegrass fairways and holding them up for all to see. What a great time we had! Thanks also for your positive review of that experience: http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=1293. :salut: |
No thanks needed Lynn. I never updated on my progress. By then end of that summer I was a 7, lowest I have been and shot 74 twice in tournament play...as a 8. Fortunately...life got in the way of my game, wife, a son(who arrived in January of 2006)and daughter(who arrived in July of 2008 ) and a home purchase in the summer of 2006, MAN, did I time that right!!!! :-). So I am not playing as much or practicing :-(. But after the begining of June, industry test, I am hopefully going to get the cobwebs and fog back out of my swing. At least get my dowels out.
Hopefully I will have the opportunity to stop by and see you again during the Barclays. Take Care Tommy |

I would still like to see a Long game DVD though! Maybe a round with Yoda and VJ playing a few holes and pointing out the various type of shots, say from different lies, shots out of deep rough, around obstacles etc. I know we're not supposed to get into trouble if we hit every shot perfectly where we intended....but this is golf, remember! C'mon everyone, let Yoda and LBG know that we want more! I for one, would love to see a 'TGM applied' DVD. Pan :golf: |
which tape are you refering to,

I have had the dvd's for 3 days

What I learned so far and can reproduce on the driving range with consistency: 1) Even with my artificial hip, front leg with metalrod which is 1.5 inches shorter than trail leg, I can SWING "in my sleep" and hit a range ball 150 yards with an 8 iron down the middle. 2) It's more fun to hit. I had a hard time understanding the right arm fan because I got caught in the idea of the elbow pull back as defined in Jim Hardy's books. I wasn't getting any zip on the ball and then I rememberd the "tracing the plane" discussions (though I did not really understand the concept). I was resigned to swinging but decided that TGM is logical and I was just missing a simple set of concepts. Then Yoda's right hand position of "holding up a falling wall," clicked in! I started from the hand position and slowly traced the plane down and the club seemed to want to fire down on its own! I realized it was the same motion I used in college to throw a side arm frisbee. 3) The right arm fan to me seems like an elbow pivot as the elbow is anchored to my back hip. AND I HAVE ALL DAY TO HIT THE SNOT OUT OF THE BALL!! 4) I can even rehearse the elbow pivot and right arm extension over the ball as a type of waggle to see exactly what the club face will do at contact. 5) My ball position is a good two inches back from a person with normal posture. 6) The closer I get my right shoulder to the ball before firing my right arm, the further the ball will fly! 7) The right hand wedge must be maintained. 8) Address hands helps me feel more powerful as a starting point than fixed impact hands since the the shorter distance and quicker "backswing" is so smooth and the plane is so apparent as the club moves up plane, down plane and up again. (The pdf's are awesome, Kevin!) 9) It's ok to stand at my car window and watch how steady my tripod is as I practice the right arm fan and extension in slow motion for twenty minutes. 10) With a steady head I do not have to worry about the where the ball goes. 11) Every shot will react to my aim point. 12) Steep aim points = draws and full extension close to my body well past my front foot, holding my right hand wedge = long and straight shots. 13) Teeing the ball up higher, and full horiz. extension = 230 yards with a range ball and no body fatigue through twisting. 14) There is a "scientific golf teacher" who has ripped off "punch elbow" from TGM and regularly claims the book is "mostly useless." However, he teaches his E2E swing as a "revolutionary new scientific breakthrough" so he can sell his clubs. I was fooled by this guy and bought his clubs but could not use his clubs until learning Mr. Hardy's swing and finally TGM. He calls lots of teachers 'shams and charlatans" when he has, in fact, stolen TGM insights to call them his own! 15) I love elbow-controlled putting! 16) And, to paraphrase Gayle Sayres " I love TGM!" This sounds like a 'sad act' story but bear with me.
Like most males of the species I hate ironing. I let it build up for about 3 weeks and then do a marathon session. Today was ironing day :( So I set up my 'work station' in front of the tv and put in Alignment Golf. My biggest regret was I ran out of shirts!!!!! Honestly it was the first time I have watched it all the way through in over a year and it has given me renewed confidence in my game. Some of you might recall a thread I started a while back lamenting the loss of my draw. Whilst I figured out myself that it was because my hinges had stopped I could have saved myself a lot of trouble by watching AG earlier because VJ says it loud and clear early on in the show. Anyone that has this and hasn't watched it in a while, stick it in your player, you won't regret it and you will whet your appetite for the upcoming AG II!! :salut: |
Agreed its a great watch for the second or fifth time. What was the V.J. quote Styles?
Any idea why your "hinges stopped"? Why you were Angled Hinging? Were you getting the face closed? Was your pivot stalling or something? Was it a subconscious Hand Manipulation? I't happens to me. Two wrongs trying to make a right. |
Hi OB
Can't recall the exact quote but it was along the lines of: "These guys are hitting cuts and slices and looking at the top of their swing wondering what they're doing wrong but they aren't looking at what their hands are doing" Not 100% sure on what I was doing (apart from hitting angled hinges) my own explanation as to why I was doing it though was because I was using (I think) an automatic release and was producing angled hinges and even vertical I think as some of the compressions were just awful! |
Thanks.
Maybe but you're too good a player to be just Angled for no reason, Im thinking. Give some thought to it being a compensation........for a closing face. I could be wrong but its something to consider. It's something I discovered about my game. I get a flip which begets Angled to Vertical Hinging. Two wrongs trying to make a straight but only achieving lousy compression. The only cure for me is to live an breath.............Delivery Line Roll Prep. Inside out Impact followed by a Finish Swivel or Roll with a Flat Left Wrist and Horizontal Hinging. Total compression. 2-C-0. as opposed to what I was I getting done previously. It all about Impact Geometry. |
that strikes a serious chord with my own experience OB
I love the stretch in the evenings here in the UK at this time of the year. After being excited all day long after watching AG, I went to the course and teed off at 9pm! Got 8 holes in and tons of bunker shots and chips lots of rehearsing delivery line rolls, I was hitting it great heading out for 18 shortly, can't wait! |
Hi GP. I have had two occasions two play in Scotland.

Thanks for reminding me to practice my bunker shots! :) Patrick |
I think Styles is more the type that has "The Little People" walking around with him..............no stupid stereotyping implied eh? When I was over there they were always quaffing my Carling Black Label when I wasnt looking. I think those little fellas are Canadian...........constantly changing the channels on the t.v..........I think to find a hockey game.
|
Styles, despite the fact I should know better............Im still subject to Steering. Maybe everyone is.
Im trying to de-code it, find its pattern of multiple compensations..........the first fix is always the Delivery Line.......inside-out impact for balls played back of low point, Clubshaft. Then I fix the Clubface, with Horizontal Hinging. When the effortless compressions come back I start working on Lag , Clubhead. Then I try to forget it all and play by feel, Lag Pressure. The goal is to make the ball (which is a tyrant that inspires steering) and the club disappear and just play with Lag Pressure and the Delivery Line or the Aiming Point. It's elusive but divine. The process is ongoing, a never ending cycle. But knowing the pattern is making the cycle way, way shorter. Knowing the ball flight laws has really helped too. What I used to ascribe to a clubhead path is now a face angle thing......making corrrections is far more "cause and effect" now. My intentional hook has never been better too. It seems amazing to me that we could all have played the game for so long with the ball flight laws backwards! |

ICT, as OB said, I'm in Ireland not Scotland but its all the same, both great places to play and (mostly) friendly people everywhere you go.
OB, I hit the ball beautifully for 15 and a half holes yesterday including 2/3 sand saves :) Sadly I hit a lay up 7 iron 200 yards on the 16th into a new bunker (you know the kind - where you foot disappears into the sand) and from there hit OB (not you!) had to drop into the soft sand (how do you like those eggs?) and took two more to get out. Should have hit wedge for my lay up, just hard to hit two wedges for 2nd and 3rd shots on a par 5! Got another fried egg on 17 and didn't play 18 so well at all. Went from 2 over to 7 over in 3 holes :( A great round is in there fighting to get out! |
Least it wasnt a tournament.....I could tell you a story but its too painful to re tell. From 4th to not qualifying ........all on 18.

Hi All,
Does anyone know where I can pick up a copy of the AG DvD in the UK? |
just order from here as per normal banjo, Yoda will mark it as a gift so there will be no import tax.
Its a great investment |

I received my Alignment Golf I dvd's on Friday (Oct 1) and continue to watch them through this afternoon (Sat). Haven't even watched the Ryder Cup, because I want to digest all that Lynn has to say. And believe me, Lynn has a LOT to say. Thanks also to VJ for his invaluable contributions on the dvd's. I have to tell you that Lynn sounds a lot like another Atlanta guy I know (Dr. Charles Stanley). Keep on, Lynn. Looking forward to Alignment Golf II.
