if you notice there is a little white object just to the right of hogans left shoulder at setup and then in the pic of the start of his downswing you cant see it anymore because he has leaned way left his left. seems like someone out there teaches that as the first move down in one of there models

There are some down-the-line views as well, and I'll put them up soon in a post on the experience. Meanwhile...

Mathew, how about some triangles? Thanks!

Heres another look.....

metallion 08-21-2005 03:03 PM

What everyone has already seen:

Yoda and BH's swings show stunning resemblance. It is also stunning how - for some reason - the shutters the the two cameras are virtually synchronized. Hands, arms, lag, legs - everything.

I am amazed. Especialy efter browsing through the swings I have on file without finding a single one even close to the same positions.

How can you not start thinking about a nosedive in The Yellow Book after seeing these pictures.

Yoda . . . Question. Hogan was a manipulated hands swinger. Yoda is able to demonstrate both, but has a bent towards Hitting. Were you Hitting here? Or are the alignments the same just the difference in the power source?

Also Wiener schnitzel vs. fried chicken and collards?

Great pics! Thanks Yoda, Annikan, and Mathew!

Swinging, 12 Piece. Swinging.

Then I demo'ed Hitting, but I don't think Mark got any of those on his still camera. Another of the group, Alan Hendry, GSEM, did, but unfortunately his camera was stolen in a car theft the last night of our school.

Regarding der wiener schnitzel...

Nein.

Ich bien ein brachtwurst und bratkartoffeln man myself!

Sorry, Annikan, we don't have a Hitting Stroke. There weren't many. All the School participants were Swingers, and I was in a Swingin' mood!

But we'll get something out soon, probably as part of the Long Game DVD with V. J. Trolio. Also, we'll do the front view of Ted Fort's Sand Wedge (down-the-line view in the Gallery), and we'll film a Driver Shot next week (during the School with Ben Doyle, Brian Manzella and Michael Finney) for a Dartfish analysis as well.

Now that I think of it...

A side-by-side of Ted (pure Hitter) and Mike (pure Swinger)...

Now that will be a Hitting versus Swinging analysis worth waiting for!

birdie_man 08-21-2005 07:28 PM

Yes! Do it! Do it!

...and while you're at it, can you get a true DTL view of your swing Lynn? The other one is kind of a weird angle...

That would be awesome-wicked-deadly-cool, daddio (wink and gun). :-k 8-[

The crowd from the Roman Coliseum is chanting...

More...More... More...

Master Yoda...

Side Note...

Your down the line frames reminded me when...

I watched you from ground zero at the Needles...

I still think your SWING is better than your HIt...

But I know you disagree...

But "I" still remember what it felt like....

....getting "sucked down" to Low point ....

....from all the Lag and Drag...of course

...it was quite turbulent!!!!

birdie_man 08-22-2005 11:37 PM

Lookin' good Yoda!

Whaaaaaaaatttt....?

mb6606 08-23-2005 02:13 PM

Perhaps it is the camera angle but the clubhead looks like it is is coming down the flight line and not inside - the right forearm angle of approach.

FL-John 08-23-2005 03:23 PM

I thinks it a bit of an illusion...if you look at Yoda's wrist condistions...his left wrist has not quite got back to FLV....to me, think his clubhead is approaching the ball correctly, but it looks more down the line vs. inside quadrant, as the overtaking action to square the clubface is still taking place....

Yoda,

What's amazing about these pics of you and the Hawk are the sense of dynamic motion you get from them. Even though a picture doesn't move, you get the sense that if you stuck your head in there you would get your jaw broken into a million pieces. Also, it looks like you and Henny Bogan could SPIN yourselves right into the ground.

You should be damn proud to have your move posted right next to possibly the best ball striker ever and not have it ripped apart. Heck even a lot of Pros couldn't stack up to Hogan without feeling like it was time to go back to the drawing board.

Here's to you OBLITERATING plane lines! Nice work Dr. Burrito Verde!

B

Great post.

I agree 100%.

The lag is amazing...the "sit-down" look to his swing is amazing. You're right- it looks like he it really torquing himself against the ground...like he's gonna screw himself right into it.

What are you looking for DRW?

It's just a Hip Slide ("bump")->Hip Turn/Axis Tilt move (blended together to be 1 move, basically....Hip Slide, Hip Turn, and finally Axis Tilt into Impact).

axis tilt is just the result of sliding your hips and keeping your head still thus increasing the tilt of your spine

birdie_man 11-15-2005 12:19 PM

You know what....that's true.

Thanks.

birdie man~

I am wanting to clarify and better understand Hogan's pivot. He had a "left side lean or sag" at the top not shown in the photos posted.

Now that's just a thing of beauty. The art and science of the golf swing blended together in beautiful form and function.

That's what I want for Christmas! :D :D
