Not sure Dodger, I think its probably optional but recommended for a swinger and not necessary for a hitter. Assuming you want a horizontal hinge through impact, the start up swivel not only prepares you for rolling during release, but also helps set your right elbow in a pitch orientation that is easier to return to on the downstroke. If you are a angled hinge swinger, then you may not need any accumulator #3 "wind up" preparation in advance.
